Two Stories: One Carefree, One Worried

These two stories: one carefree, one worried. Two stories, seemingly unrelated, and with a significant contrast. Forced together, they reveal a bit of insight. Two things, rather than comparing them, should be contrasted. In everyday life, things can be compared, but people cannot be compared; that is hurtful. In fact, the 'core' of these two stories is the same; starting from the point, do what you should do.

Its one: A rich man saw a poor man fishing by the sea. The rich man walked up to the poor man and said, 'Why don't you try to catch more fish? For example, sell the extra fish and use the money to buy a boat.'

The poor man asked the rich man, 'Why should I do that?'

The rich man said, 'If you buy a boat, you can go to the deeper sea to fish. There must be more fish there.'

'Then what?' the poor man asked, continuing to watch the fishing float on the water.

'Then?' the rich man answered without thinking, 'Then you can sell the more fish you catch, earn a lot of money, buy a bigger boat, go to the deeper sea to fish, catch more fish!'

'Then what?' the poor man's head didn't lift as he continued to ask,

'Then, you can fish here without worrying about anything!' the rich man said.

'I'm already fishing here without worrying about anything!' the poor man replied,

Its two: A young monk was responsible for cleaning the fallen leaves in the temple courtyard every morning. The young monk felt sleepy, and getting up early to sweep fallen leaves was a difficult task, especially in the autumn and winter, every time there was a wind, the leaves would fly down and fall.

Every morning he had to spend a lot of time to clean up the fallen leaves, this job made the young monk headache. He always wanted to find a way to make himself more comfortable.

Later, an older monk told him, 'Before you clean the leaves tomorrow, shake the tree hard to shake all the leaves down, and the next day you won't need to sweep fallen leaves.'

The young monk thought this was a good idea, so the next day he got up early and vigorously shook the tree trunk, so that he could sweep today's and tomorrow's leaves at once. Throughout the day, the young monk was very happy.

The next day, the young monk arrived in the courtyard and saw that there were still fallen leaves all over the ground.

At this time, the old monk came over and said to the young monk, 'No matter how hard you shake the tree today, the fallen leaves will still fall down tomorrow.'

The young monk finally understood.

In the world, if you can live without worries, and take a comfortable pillow to rest on, how wonderful that would be! However, the standard of 'one billion small goals' is different. 'One billion' was coined by Wang Jianlin. Similarly, a segment that went viral on the network: 'Mom! One billion! I just saw it when I burned paper for my grandma!'

Everyone has their own life goals, just different levels. The poor man and the rich man's conversation by the sea fully demonstrates this point. The rich man's well-intentioned guidance towards 'one billion small goals' led the poor man, who remained unconcerned, to fish without worries. The rich man expended all his efforts to draw a 'big pie', but it was no different from the 'one billion' in front of the grandma's grave, returning to the starting point, and still fishing without worries. People should not compare themselves to each other, nor should they use their standards to measure others. You should not compare yourself to others, nor should you go into an ice hole to see who is better.

The worried monk sweated over it, ultimately leading to a worried state. In fact, the young monk's time is his wealth, a time-rich person, sleeping is a matter of time. However, for that little bit of morning time, his mentality was similar to the rich man, wasting such a great time is not a good thing, so he spent a lot of thought, and also put the 'goal' in the current action, but finally returned to the starting point.

When reading these two stories together, it should have this effect. (Written by Cai Si Du History / Picture from the network)
