How to Avoid Interference from Opposing Players During Free Throws?
As everyone knows, free throws are crucial in basketball, especially in formal matches, and often determine the outcome. Sometimes the scores are tied or only differ by a few points, and the opposing team will certainly employ fouling tactics. At this point, the ability to make free throws is tested. It is important to have a solid foundation and a good mentality to make free throws. It is necessary to accumulate various free throw techniques regularly.
1. Stand at the correct free throw position

When shooting free throws, you will stand on the free throw line, but do not step over the line, nor stand too close to the line, otherwise it will increase the shooting distance. Some people have a habit of taking a step forward after the ball is released. This habit is very dangerous. If it is after the ball is released, it will be ruled as a violation, and the free throw will be invalid. Therefore, you must correct this bad habit. After standing in a good position, pay attention to relaxation, take a deep breath, and pat the ball.
2. Adopt a good free throw posture
A good shooting posture can improve the accuracy of free throws. When shooting free throws, first stand upright, with the legs naturally apart with the shoulders at the same width, and the body can be slightly lowered to accumulate power. Relax your whole body, pay attention not to shrug your shoulders, look straight ahead, hold your breath, and hold the ball firmly with your right hand. The right arm, elbow, and wrist should form 3 right angles, and after releasing the ball, the arm should be stretched straight.
3. Master the free throw force
The control of force is very important when shooting free throws. If you use too much force, the ball will bounce off the backboard; if you use too little force, you will have the situation of 'three misses' (the backboard, the net, and the basket will not touch), or the ball will bounce off the basket.
4. Pay attention to the running trajectory of the basketball
When shooting free throws, it is best to make the basketball run a higher arc, so that the landing point will be more accurate. If you shoot straight, the accuracy of the basketball will generally be relatively low. In fact, the running trajectory of the basketball is the same as the parabola in mathematics, and the larger the arc, the more accurate it will hit.
5. Eliminate all external interference

Do not be disturbed by fans behind the backboard or opponents' provocations. When shooting free throws, the cheerleaders behind the backboard will often make a commotion, interfere with the free throw, and some opponents will say inappropriate things. At this point, you must calm yourself down, don't care about other situations, just focus on making free throws. Also adjust your mentality, even if it's the last few seconds that decide the outcome, you must relax your whole body, treat it as a regular exercise, so that you can confidently make free throws.
