Wild Siberian Tigers Spotted in Northeast China
Wild Siberian Tigers Captured in Northeast China Reporters from Heilongjiang Province, Hegang City, Luobei County, Northeast China, reported that since March, four wild Siberian tigers have been discovered in the Luobei County Tai Pinggou National Nature Reserve. Two of them have already settled in the protected area and have begun patrolling their territory, while the other two just arrived in pairs from Russia. The protected area has captured high-definition images of the Siberian tigers through infrared cameras. Heilongjiang Tai Pinggou National Nature Reserve is an important transit channel between China and Russia for large mammals, and plays a crucial role in the spread of tigers to the Xiaoinganling region. It is a gateway region for the recovery of the wild Siberian tiger population in the Xiaoinganling area. In recent years, the protected area has increased its efforts to protect Siberian tigers and has continuously carried out supplementary feeding activities to ensure the number of prey populations. Siberian tigers are one of the world's endangered species, widely distributed in Russia's Far East and Northeast China. Affected by habitat destruction, the number of wild Siberian tigers has decreased sharply since the 20th century. Data show that there are only a few hundred wild Siberian tigers currently existing globally. (Reporter Wang Junbao, Sun Xiaoyu)
