Subsequently, they contacted the Fujian Birdwatching Association. After identification by multiple experts, it was confirmed that the bird was a meadow pipit, which is a new species recorded in Longqi MountainDue to over-hunting and habitat degradation, the meadow pipit population has decreased by 75-87% in the past 30 years. In 2016, its threatened level was upgraded from Least Concern to Vulnerable.The meadow pipit is a small pipit. Its body length is about 14.5cm. Its beak is brownish, and its upper beak is grayish-black. The head has a short crest. The male breeding plumage has nearly black head with yellow-white eyebrow and cheek markings, white throat; the neck and waist are chestnut brown, with light brown feather edges, the back has dark brown vertical stripes; the abdomen is white, with brown vertical stripes on the two flanks; the upper wing has light brown small coverts, the upper wing is mainly black with light-colored feather edges, with two brown-white wing spots; the tail is mainly black, with brown central tail feathers on the outside, and the outermost tail feathers are mainly white. The male non-breeding plumage and female plumage are darker in color, with a nearly white spot on the back of the cheek. The beak is dark gray, with grayish-pink at the base. It mainly lives in plains and low-mountain forests, shrubs, farmland and other habitats. It often gathers in small groups and mixes with other pipits. It feeds mainly on grass seeds and other plant fruits and seeds, and also eats insects.Longqi Mountain
