That Person, That Scene, That Feeling

That person, that scene, that feeling.

Author: Li Ya Jing

A piece of snowflake drenched the vast and clear river. The sudden heavy snowfall did not retreat, and the diligent gatekeepers of the community defended against the virus. Everyone was equally useful and volunteered willingly, forgetting themselves, with a happy and generous heart, wishing we had the same dreams, ( -) doesn't mean mediocrity, everyone is a hero, engraved in my heart, a smile from my inner self.

That person, look, standing at the entrance of the community, diligently checking everyone's pass. He bravely took on the responsibility and dedication to protect his home. It was precisely these people, one after another, over fifty years old, who set an example. Despite their age, their movements were not slow. Some were party members, some were old cadres, and some were ordinary people. Some even had illnesses and didn't flinch in the cold, guarding their posts. Seeing the elderly grandfathers and grandmothers working so diligently and happily, I was even more motivated. In this snow-filled night, it made me stand even taller, looking up to them and paying them tribute. Standing firmly in these simple and ordinary posts, we achieve the extraordinary. In the monotonous checking of passes, we find joy, and this is the beauty of dedication and contentment.

That feeling, a deep and warm feeling, warming the heart, weathering the dust of years, time fades away, memories fade, but this deep feeling will always remain in my heart. In my mind, I hear a passerby's words, 'It's snowing so heavily, yet you're on duty, you've worked hard!' His simple 'you've worked hard' made the night shift personnel feel that the cold snow didn't matter, instead, warmth spread in their hearts. 'Words of kindness are like winter sunshine, and words of malice are like the cold in June.' Looking at people accompanying snowflakes and expressing their affirmation to our work, I couldn't help but feel that this snow brought people closer together, increasing understanding and emotion.

Those people, that scene, that feeling. I was asleep early that night when it snowed, and when I saw the pictures I found on my phone the next morning, I was filled with admiration and emotion. The several groups of pictures were four college student volunteers on a night shift in the snow. They all held tools, clearing ice and snow at the entrance of the community. They didn't fear the cold night or the falling snow, only for the people who wanted to commute to work in the morning and to ensure the convenience of the people's travel. They were about the same age as me, but they were willing to work from 9 pm to 8 am, while I only stood for one or two hours, which is even less of a matter. Their hearts were full of love and care for the community, and they willingly took on their mission and responsibility, and as a college student, it was also the direction and motivation for my learning and advancement.

I will never forget that snow, and those people will never forget that feeling. As the dawn rose, it shone with ten thousand rays of light, and the golden sunlight shone on the volunteers, shimmering with golden light, and it was a new day, a day of guarding the home. (Volunteer: Li Ya Jing
