What is 'fengu'?
It is having a backbone amidst the hustle and bustle of the world
Not flattering, not catering to trends
Like plum blossoms in the snow, standing proudly
Cold and piercing, I bloom with a quiet, serene fragrance
Like a majestic pine on a mountain peak
Proudly facing the world, a vibrant green is a constant throughout one's life
Cannot be like reeds or weeds, swaying and bending in the wind
Always lacking a backbone
A person with 'fengu' is a warrior, a recluse, a sage
Concern for the nation and the world, even in seclusion
Shining through tranquility in times of chaos
Finding freedom in stability, an independent existence
'Fengu' is like jade or the sea
Like the backbone of a mountain.
