The Most Sad Spring / Poem by Zhang Chao
Time and time are distorted and covered in gloomy haze, pressing down until I can barely breathe. The fireworks were brilliant and colorful, but now they're just distant memories. The pedestrians on the street have lost their true appearance, hurrying along like visiting a grave.

Falling snowflakes falling into my heart are like a mysterious virus, causing me to be terrified. The thick mist and cold wind pierced my heart, and a sneeze sent the entire city into panic. In the Year of the Rat, the virus raged, suppressing, sadness, and fear. But spring is quietly coming, and the days when the flowers bloom will not be far off. No matter how many demons and monsters there are, they cannot withstand the spring breeze that breaks through the rocks.

Forget it, whether it's fiery clouds or bitter winds and rains, I no longer fear sadness. I hate that coronavirus. It’s a season of silence. I look forward to richness, tranquility, and harmony. I want to blow a healthy gale or a cleansing spring rain. Zhang Chao wrote this in the Year of the Rat, on the day of the vernal equinox.
