An Inner Strength Is the Cure for Everything

A gentleman's joy comes from adverse circumstances.
01
Life's color is bleak; often thinking of one or two, without considering eight or nine, to 'make everything go as planned.'
As Mr. Fuzhi Yangzi said:
'Since there is no escape, rejoice;
'Since there is no pure land, be mindful;
'Since we cannot achieve our wishes, accept with equanimity.'
In life, only a strong inner self can heal everything.
02
The stronger your inner self, the more gentle your dealings.
Great sages are invariably modest; great benefactors are invariably tolerant.
During a trip on the Qing Dynasty's imperial court, late official Wen Kuo encountered a sedan carried by eight men.
When the official saw that Wen Kuo was carried by four men, he didn't take it amiss.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to 'make way for others,' the sedan bearers didn't hesitate and pulled Wen Kuo out of the sedan.
The official then saw that Wen Kuo was a first-rank official and panicked, profusely apologizing.
Wen Quan did not get angry, but helped him up and smiled, saying:
'My sedan has blocked your esteemed presence, I apologize to you, I apologize to you.'
Tolerance is the highest form of revenge.
I wanted to reprimand you fiercely, but I chose not to hold grudges.
Having a great compassion, all the vexations are trivial matters.
Showing consideration to others is also to minimize the impact and gain satisfaction.
The stronger your inner self, the more benevolent you become, the more gentle you are.
When you become gentle, the world also becomes softer.

Inner strength heals yourself.
Lin Yutang said: 'Only people can raise their own realm by one level, otherwise they will be saddened by temporary setbacks.'
As the environment becomes more severe, the inner strength becomes stronger, and you can achieve greatness in adversity.
In the spring of 1082, Su Shi was banished to Huangzhou for the 'Wutai Poetry Case' for the third time.
Su Shi and his friends planned a spring outing, but a sudden storm disrupted their journey, and there was nowhere to shelter from the rain. Everyone was caught in the rain.
Su Shi remained calm, walking in the rain, gaining insight, and after a while, he wrote the famous poem 'Fixed Wind Slope':
'Bamboo crutch, light and swift, better than a horse; who cares? A smoky rain, let one spend a lifetime freely.'”
This little rain, what does it matter?
Even if I wear a raincoat, let it blow and let it rain, I can still maintain a calm and unhurried demeanor.
In official business, if one is not successful, it's okay to walk with a bamboo crutch and a raincoat, it's still possible to walk with grace and composure.
If your inner self is strong enough, you can live a life of elegance even in the lowest circumstances.
It's no wonder Lin Yutang said: 'A figure like Su Dongpo is rare in the world.'
A person can make himself whole, to satisfy himself.
Just as your inner self is strong, you will learn to heal everything you experience that tries to knock you down.

Inner strength heals everything.
'In the Records of the Grand Historian,' 'To be 'upright,' one should not be overly joyful; to be 'reverse,' one should not be unduly alarmed; to be 'tranquil,' one should not be overly complacent; in 'danger,' one should not be frightened; those with 'thunder in their hearts but a calm exterior' can be honored to serve as a general.'
The stronger your inner self, the more you become a great person.
Yang Jiang was such a person.
In 1997, her daughter Qian Yuan, whom she called 'her masterpiece,' passed away.
On the night her daughter died, she held her daughter's hand and said, 'Sleep soundly. My husband and I wish you a good sleep.'
The following year, her husband died, and she didn't shed a tear, only glancing at his body once.
She said, 'I could run away, but where would I go? I had to stay here and take care of the scene.'
Once a family full of laughter and joy, it eventually remained just her alone.
She spent nearly ten years quietly organizing and publishing her daughter's handwritten notes and manuscripts.
How strong must your inner self be to remain calm and composed under the pressure of life?
Yang Jiang said:
'We once longed for the excitement of fate, but in the end we discovered that the most beautiful scenery in life is the serenity and composure of our inner selves.' We once hoped for external recognition, but in the end we realized: the world is your own, and has nothing to do with others.
