Recently, at SuiChang, Zhejiang JiuLongshan National Nature Reserve Management Center staff were reviewing the infrared camera monitoring data they had collected, when they discovered that an infrared camera set up in the firebreak along the exam pit found the shadow of a leopard cat, and it was twice, on February 9, 2020 at 17:58 and February 20, 2020 at 20:19.

Leopard cats belong to the Felidae family, leopard cat genus, which is a small cat species, and is a key terrestrial wild animal protected in Zhejiang Province. In recent years, due to the decline of leopard cat wild population and serious threat to their survival, in August 8, 2019, the Forest Administration of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration issued a draft of the national key protected terrestrial wild animal list adjustment proposal for public consultation, which has adjusted leopard cats to national secondary key protected wild animals.
The staff of the Zhejiang JiuLongshan National Nature Reserve Management Center told, this is the first time leopard cats have been discovered within the Zhejiang JiuLongshan National Nature Reserve, its appearance has added a new species record to the protection area, and it further showcases the rich animal resources of the protection area.

Utilizing infrared cameras for wildlife monitoring has achieved remarkable results.
Subsequently, learned that since 2015, the Zhejiang JiuLongshan National Nature Reserve Management Center has cooperated with Zhejiang University to implement a whole-area grid-based deployment of 63 infrared cameras throughout the entire protected area, and has been conducting long-term monitoring and investigation of the wild animals within the area, resulting in the monitoring of many national key protected wild animals, including black, yellow-bellied pheasant, white-necked long-tailed pheasant, and black bear, white eagle, macaque,, and, which are national secondary key protected wild animals.
