Recently, Ms. Wang from Jin Tai District was walking in Weiyang Park when she discovered an injured night heron. After emergency rescue, it was sent to the Forestry and Land Management Office of Weibin District for treatment and protection.
On April 1st evening, Ms. Wang was walking in Weiyang Park when she found the bird, injured in a pile of straw under the riverbank. The bird was dark green from its head to its back, gray on its sides, and white underneath, with yellow feet.
Upon seeing the injured bird, Ms. Wang brought it home and used gauze and anti-inflammatory medication to simply bandage its injured area. She learned online that the bird was a night heron, a national level two protected animal, which inhabits and activities in flatlands and low-mountain hilly areas along streams, ponds, rivers, marshes and paddy fields, feeding on animals such as fish, frogs, shrimp and aquatic insects.
