“Starting to pull lines, both sides, pay attention to safety.” On April 7th, in Yichun City, Yifeng County, Guishan Nature Reserve, a dozen members of the Mingxi Party Branch of the State Grid Yifeng County Power Supply Company are conducting the construction of 10kV power lines, which is a specific measure taken by the company to ensure power supply for the ‘giant panda reintroduction’ scientific experiment project.

It is reported that the China Giant Panda Protection Research Center will open ‘reintroduction’ trials for several giant pandas. ‘Giant panda reintroduction’ refers to the wild training of captive-bred giant pandas, followed by their release in historical distribution areas to live and reproduce, thus rebuilding their wild population. Conducting a scientific trial of giant panda reintroduction can obtain valuable data on how giant pandas adapt to the existing environment and the climate process, which has extremely high scientific research value in understanding the deep reasons for the extinction of giant pandas in their historical distribution areas.

According to reports, Guishan National Nature Reserve is located in a subtropical warm and humid climate zone, with a forest coverage rate of up to 98%, with distinct four seasons, suitable climate conditions for giant pandas to survive. The reserve has 30 species of bamboo, with bamboo leaves and bamboo shoots that can be eaten by giant pandas, providing giant pandas with a rich food source. This is the first time giant pandas have been wild-released outside of Sichuan!

In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the ‘giant panda reintroduction’ scientific experiment, the State Grid Yifeng County Power Supply Company quickly launched the power supply preparatory work for the ‘giant panda reintroduction’ scientific experiment project. As early as January of this year, it contacted the Guishan National Nature Reserve to learn about the newly built giant panda observation and research base, which will be equipped with monitoring systems and humidity temperature automatic recording instruments to observe and study the movement trajectory of the giant pandas.
According to the power demand of the base, the power supply company formulated a detailed power construction plan. Since the base is in the depths of Guishan, the entire project needs to erect 152 concrete poles, install 10 kilometers of 10kV insulated lines, and install one 100kV transformer.

Since the resumption of work from the end of February, the power supply employees have worked diligently for more than a month, overcoming complex terrain, high construction intensity and difficult material transportation, working overtime to erect the 152 concrete poles.
On April 7th, the Mingxi Party Branch of the State Grid Yifeng County Power Supply Company organized Party members to begin the construction of the 10kV power line, and on that day, 2 kilometers of lines were strung, and the entire project is expected to be completed in mid-April, providing strong electrical support for the ‘giant panda reintroduction’ scientific experiment.
