Linyin Lake Park, the First Nest of Wild Green-Headed Ducks Has Been Established!
Last winter, 7-8 pairs of wild Green-headed ducks were found in Linyin Park, and from early January 2020, courtship behaviors were observed. They nested on the solitary islands and pavilions of Linyin Lake, laying 7-12 eggs, which were white or greenish-gray.
Subsequently, the female ducks hatched the eggs, and the incubation period lasted 24-27 days. The first brood of ducklings hatched in early April, and the ducklings were able to follow their mothers shortly after hatching.
The first brood of Green-headed ducks consisted of 7 individuals, and they followed their mothers closely in the water, playing and foraging.
The mother duck would take the ducklings to the lakeside, and the Green-headed duck mother would promptly call them away, with the ducklings following their mothers into the center of the lake, creating a heartwarming scene.
This scene attracted morning exercisers to watch and take pictures, adding a touch of spring vitality to Linyin Park.
