Shiyan, Hubei: Sprites Dancing on the Cliffside

On March 19, 2020, a large flock of gray herons began building nests on a cliff face along the Han River in Yuyang District, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, dancing gracefully in the beautiful spring sunlight.

Yuyang District is a core water source area for the South-North Water Transfer Project, and in order to ensure the continuous delivery of clear water northward, the district has recently increased its efforts in comprehensive environmental governance and implemented the strictest ecological protection measures.

The sky in Yuyang is becoming increasingly blue, and the water in the Han River is becoming clearer, and the vegetation along the riverbanks is becoming more lush, creating a good ecological environment, which has attracted a large number of rare migratory birds to gather and breed.
