Suddenly, a 'cute little thing' flew into a resident's home – is it a surprise or astonishment? What would everyone do? On April 1st, a bird appeared unexpectedly in the home of a resident in Siyang County, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province. Subsequently, police took it back to the police station.
This 'cute little thing' has a red mouth, sparkling eyes, and gray-white feathers. However, it remained undeterred even after spending an afternoon in the police station.
Dongcheng Police Station Officer Lu Jia Yi: In a residential home in the community, a bird flew in through the window. The bird's leg was tied with a red line that resembled a marker. I felt that the bird was frightened at first.
Passionate citizens promptly reported this situation to the police. The police brought the little guy back to the police station and prepared a 'home' for it temporarily in a cardboard box. At the same time, they immediately contacted the forestry department. So, what exactly is this little cutie?
County Forestry Center Senior Engineer Yan Xiangjin: From the appearance, it looks like a stone chicken (shi ji). There are many species of stone chickens.
Experts said that this stone chicken belongs to a 'three-animal' species, mainly inhabiting rocky slopes and sandy slopes in low mountains and hilly areas, as well as plains, grasslands, deserts, etc. It is mainly distributed in Europe, Siberia, and Pakistan, which is the national bird of Pakistan. However, this stone chicken was tied with a rope. Experts speculated that it was likely a domesticated one.
County Forestry Center Senior Engineer Yan Xiangjin: Currently, the bird is artificially raised, not wild, so it cannot be released into the wild. Therefore, we must send it to a rescue station for care.
Police remind citizens to call 110 or contact the forestry department to handle wild animals properly.
