Wild Cormorant Flock Spotted on the Banks of the Nujiang River
On the evening of March 31st at 7:00 pm, approximately 16 wild cormorants were spotted in a flock along the banks of the Nujiang River in Maji Township, Fugong County, Nu River Source Scenic Area. The cormorants were playing in the river and resting on the riverbank at times.
The wild cormorant, also known as a fish hawk, is a national Grade II protected animal. It often inhabits rivers, lakes and wetlands, often forming flocks to hunt fish, and is a water-loving animal. In recent years, with the ecological restoration of the Nujiang River Basin and the success of the 'Nu River Source Scenic Area' ecological construction, the ecological environment conditions have gradually improved, and the public's awareness of loving and protecting birds is increasing. This has led to continuous improvement in the habitat of wild animals, attracting migratory birds to rest and stay along the Nujiang River.
