Injured Wild Deer Rescued in White Jade County and Returned to Nature
Sichuan Online Report (Wang Xiaoqing, reporter Yu Fei) On March 22nd, following reports from residents, a wounded wild deer was found by the riverbank of the White Jade County Archive. Staff from the White Jade County Foresty and Grassland Bureau, the County Animal Husbandry and Rural Technology Bureau, and the County Forest Public Security Bureau immediately rushed to the scene to treat the injured deer. After careful identification on the spot, the rescued deer was identified as a national level II protected animal, the water deer.

Livestock and veterinary personnel are currently performing suture surgery on the water deer.
The injured deer is a male adult water deer, weighing approximately 150 jin (about 75 lbs), and after careful examination by staff, it was found that the water deer had abrasions of varying degrees at the feet, especially the left hind hoof wound was severely torn. Under the cooperation of the County Animal Husbandry and Rural Technology Bureau's veterinarian and other staff, the veterinarian immediately carried out anti-inflammatory and bandaging treatment on the water deer's wound. After the wound treatment was completed, the water deer was taken back to the Forest Public Security Bureau for further observation.

Staff are treating the water deer's wound.
Due to injuries to all four feet, the water deer was almost unable to stand when rescued. After observing for two days in the backyard of the Forest Public Security Bureau, on the morning of March 24th, staff from the White Jade County Quarantine Station and Animal Husbandry Veterinary Station again carefully checked the water deer's wound. Considering the severity of the torn wound in the left hind hoof, to facilitate the wound recovery, the staff performed sutures and applied medicine to bandage the wound. After confirming that the water deer could stand and walk, the staff jointly lifted the water deer onto a vehicle and transported it to the nearby forest. Upon arrival at the destination, the water deer occasionally looked around and gradually adapted to the new environment, slowly stood up and walked into the depths of the forest, disappearing into the vast expanse of forest.

The water deer is about to be released back into nature.
It is reported that similar incidents of water deer accidentally entering the county seat and being rescued after being injured have occurred multiple times in White Jade County. In recent years, White Jade County has not only paid attention to local economic development but has also vigorously strengthened ecological protection work, allowing White Jade County to truly become a beautiful home where humans and nature, and humans and animals, live in harmony.
