Spring Awakening, 30+ Special Guests Arrive at Tai'an Ningyang Guanhong Wetland Park
Qilu Net · Flash News reported on February 25th that in February, Yangyang was full of spring, and all things were reviving. In the Guanhong Wetland Park, more than 30 special ‘guests’ arrived, they soared at times and foraged at times, becoming a beautiful landscape of early spring in Yangyang.

These ‘guests’ are a group of white swans, lined up in a single row on the shimmering waters of the Guanhong River, and the slightest wind or movement would not disrupt their formation. When they sensed someone approaching, they would slowly move to the other side of the lake. Some white swans occasionally spread their wings, seemingly preparing for take-off.

“The white swans arrived at Guanhong Park on February 13th, and their calls are very special, this is the first time that a large group of white swans has descended upon this place.” According to staff of Yangyang City Development Investment Co., Ltd., Guanhong Wetland Park has been named a provincial ecological corridor, and the arrival of the white swans is the best annotation of the obvious improvement of Yangyang’s ecological environment.
It is understood that white swans are a second-level protected animal in China, and they prefer to forage in good environment lakes and marshes, mainly feeding on aquatic plants. In order to avoid winter, when the weather gets cold, white swans from Siberia will migrate to various parts of southern China for wintering. When spring comes, they will return to their homeland.
In recent years, Yangyang County has implemented the ‘green water and green mountains are gold mountains and silver mountains’ development concept, completed the compilation of the first county-level ecological civilization creation plan in China, established the leadership group office of the mountain, forest, land, lake and grass ecological protection and restoration project, and coordinated and promoted the implementation of key projects such as Guanhong River, Yangyang River and Haizi River ecological wetland projects, thus building a wetland ecological system that integrates biodiversity, water quality purification and beautiful scenery.

It has accelerated the implementation of the Tai Shan Regional Mountain, Forest, Land, Lake and Grass Ecological Protection and Restoration Project with a total investment of 13.9 billion yuan, which has completed an investment of 12.21 billion yuan.
Walking along the banks of the Guanhong River, you can see clear green banks, fish swimming in the shallow bottom, and colorful permeable concrete running tracks are winding through the banks. “The Guanhong Ecological Protection and Restoration Project has a planning area of 7.18 square kilometers and a total investment of 5 billion yuan. It will be further improved the water quality and vegetation of the Guanhong River and built Guanhong Wetland Park and Botanical Garden, thus further improving the water quality and vegetation of the Guanhong River and creating a ‘lush forest oxygen bar’ in Yangyang’s western area.” Mr. Chen Jun, Chairman of Yangyang City Development Investment Co., Ltd., said.

To allow professionals to do professional things, Yangyang County actively explores innovative social capital participation in the capital operation model of the mountain, forest, land, lake and grass ecological protection and restoration project. The Guanhong Ecological Protection and Restoration Project, co-built by Yangyang City Development Investment Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Lingnan Garden Co., Ltd., adheres to the principles of prioritizing conservation, prioritizing conservation, and natural restoration, strengthens wetland protection and restoration, coordinates and governs the mountain, forest, land, lake and grass ecosystem, and strives to create Yangyang County’s western ecological residential area.
“According to the ‘river restoration by river’ concept, we further improve the city’s infrastructure functional zones. It can be said that with a 5 billion yuan investment, we have triggered 50 billion yuan of income!” Mr. Chen said. The construction of the Guanhong ecological zone has not only widened the city’s framework and promoted the development of the western area, but also made the former ‘grassland lake’ regain its clear water and green banks, becoming a model project driven by ecological water governance to promote urban development.
As of now, the project has completed approximately 90 hectares of greening area on both sides of the river, planted 4583 pine trees, and planted about 450,000 jasmine bushes; built 25 kilometers of riverside roads; and completed 17 hectares of wetland construction. Guanhong Wetland Park has become a new place for citizens to relax and play.
