Why Do Cats Yowl During Mating, While Dogs Mate Quietly?

Every time cats reproduce, at night you can always hear cats' heartbreaking cries, which is very scary. But dogs don't have this cry when in heat, instead their tails are connected, what is the matter?

This is actually because of the difference between cat and dog families.
Cat family
Although they are both meat-eating animals, cat and dog families have different structures, cat family has spikes on its tongue, these spikes are made of keratin, which is a key material for making claws and scales.

Cat family not only has spikes on its tongue, but also has spikes in a certain key part. Studies have found that in male lions, a certain part will grow 100+ spikes, each spike about 1cm long.
Because of the spikes, cats are very painful during reproduction. Generally, during the process, male cats will bite the back of female cats, so that they can cooperate. Fortunately, cat family usually has a short time, about dozens of seconds.
The reason for the spikes may be to prevent other males from coming, it can also stimulate female cats. When spikes stimulate female cats' body, the nerve cells will send information to the brain, and then the brain will receive the signal and start promoting egg maturation.
Generally, it takes 4 times of stimulation for female cats to accept it, and the more times the stimulation, the higher the probability of female cats getting pregnant.

Therefore, cats reproduce frequently every day, lions can do this up to 100 times a day.
Although cat family has spikes, neutered cats won't have this feature. This may be because keratin development is related to male hormones.
Dog family
Dog family's reproduction characteristics are tails are connected and can't be separated, this is because dog's a certain part can rotate above 90 degrees.
Dogs release a chemical substance in their urine when in heat. We can't smell it, but dogs can smell it from a distance. This attracts other male dogs to gather around the female dog, which helps to produce excellent offspring.

Theoretically, all dogs can mate, even with wolves, but because of the size difference, some dogs with different sizes can't mate, such as Golden Retriever and Chihuahua.
Dogs in heat, the uterine lining vessels will develop, will bleed, but not like humans, the uterine lining will not shed and bleed. After the bleeding, about 9 days later is the most suitable for reproduction.
Compared with cats, dogs take more time and have fewer times. This is because when dogs reproduce, the uterine muscles of female dogs and the bones of male dogs contract, so they can't be separated.

At this time, male dogs will drip like a faucet, one by one entering sperm into female dogs' body. Generally, dogs will continue for several minutes to 20 minutes, during this time it's best not to disturb them because dogs will be vengeful.
After dogs reproduce, blood will flow back, female dogs' muscles will not contract, at this time male dogs and female dogs can be separated.
After sperm enters female dogs' body, the female dog's egg cells may not be mature, so sperm will wait in the fallopian tubes, until the egg cells mature. Generally, sperm in dogs can live in the fallopian tubes for 7 days, while humans can only survive for 2-3 days.

Waiting for the egg cells to mature, sperm will move again, striving to be the first to enter the egg cells.
After female dogs are pregnant, it takes about 63 days to give birth, generally giving birth to 4-6 puppies.
Why are dogs quiet and cats cry
After knowing the difference between dogs and cats, it's easy to see that dogs don't cause pain during the process, while cats are very painful because of the spikes, so male cats will quickly leave after reproduction, or they will be injured by female cats.
Another difference between cat and dog families is that cat family has more times, but each time the time is short; dog family has fewer times, but the duration is longer.
