CCTV News reported on March 26th that globally critically endangered Northern Pintails have appeared in Beidaihe wetlands. This bird species only has about 400 individuals worldwide, rarer than giant pandas. With the return of geese and ducks, Qinhuangdao officially ushered in the spring migratory bird season.

In recent days, the Qinhuangdao Observation (Love) Bird Association's Bird Spring bird survey team has photographed Northern Pintails, Black-faced Ducks, Great Black-backed Gull, Oriental White Stork, Grey Crane and other rare birds. Pigeon Nest, Yanghe Mouth and the entrance of the Yellow River estuary, Shennandai Island, Changli Seven Seas, and the entrance of the Luan River estuary are coastal wetlands that will be migratory bird stations. As large birds migrate, a large number of migratory birds will successively arrive in Qinhuangdao coastal areas. They will stay, play and forage for food to supplement their strength for the upcoming journey. Experts from the Qinhuangdao Observation (Love) Bird Association said that this year's climate is relatively early, and migratory birds have migrated about half a month earlier than usual. It is expected that this year's migration peak will reach the upper reaches of April.
