Seven Men Brutally Drag African Manatees, Belly Rubbed Against Ground with Heartbreaking Cries

Sea cows, a marine herbivorous mammal, with a spindle-shaped body like a small whale, looks cute and clumsy. However, due to the consumption of sea cows for meat, subcutaneous fat, and organs by many people for food or medicinal purposes, sea cows have been tragically hunted and killed over the years, leading to a sharp decline in their numbers. Some coastal countries in Africa have enacted legislation to ban the hunting of sea cows, but the huge profits still drive sea cows to escape human grasp.

On February 25, the British 'Daily Mail' published a heartbreaking video filmed in a coastal village in Nigeria. In the video, a sea cow was captured and dragged onto the shore, with its tail tied with a rope. Seven adult men pulled it with all their might. The cow's belly rubbed against the rough dirt road quickly, and its front fins occasionally slapped against the ground. It occasionally let out a heartbreaking cry, which looked very painful.

Many people watched the video next to them, allowing the hunters to drag the sea cow barbarically, and some people occasionally cheered. It seemed that this had already become commonplace. The Nigerian local officials were very saddened to see this heartbreaking video, although Nigeria has recently increased its efforts to protect sea cows from hunting, there are still many people who risked it for the sake of profit.

She said that it is very unfortunate that sea cows are still hunted as one of the aquatic mammals. Although many countries have taken protective measures, there are currently only about 10,000 sea cows along the West African coast, and their numbers are still declining rapidly. The official added that the problem reflected in this video has gone beyond the hunting of rare animals, this is a cruel treatment of animals.
