Yangzhou Zoo's Kangaroo Joey Takes Its First Steps into the World

Kangaroo joey follows its mother

At Yangzhou Zoo, the red kangaroo joey, 'Da' , which was born about six months ago, has finally left its mother's pouch – officially 'came out'
According to the zookeepers, this red kangaroo joey was born in October last year and was only the size of a peanut, weighing a few grams at that time. The kangaroo joey grew slowly inside its mother's nursery pouch, and after getting a bit bigger, it would poke its head out to look at the outside world
However, the age of the kangaroo is calculated from the day it landed, not when it was put in the pouch. So even though the kangaroo joey looks big now, it is actually less than a month old. 'Before officially landing, the kangaroo joey would often go down to the ground, but it would quickly return to its mother's nursery pouch'
Compared to its mother's gray and red-brown fur, the joey's fur is a reddish-brown, which is more in line with the image of 'Da' Red Kangaroo'. Although it has come out of the pouch, the joey always follows its mother, looking very vigilant
