Great Cranes Migrate North for Winter

On March 25th at 9:00 AM, staff members of the Management Bureau of the Dayaibao Black-necked Crane National Nature Reserve monitored and recorded a total of 384 black-necked cranes, including 317 cranes in Dahazi, 13 in Changkoutuo, 51 in Xiaohaiba, and 3 in Leiliki, marking the arrival of thousands of 'pristine spirits' black-necked cranes in large numbers to the Dayaibao for winter migration to their breeding grounds.
According to the monitoring results of the Dayaibao Black-necked Crane Protection Zone Management Bureau, in 2019, the number of black-necked cranes overwintering in Dayaibao reached its peak at 1383. Since mid-March this year, black-necked cranes from have begun to gather in Dayaibao and have been migrating back to the Yerga grassland breeding grounds. Next, the staff of the protection zone will continue to increase the all-weather dynamic monitoring and wild patrols of the crane flocks in their nightly habitats and core areas, and at the same time strengthen public awareness and legal regulations on epidemic and animal diseases and wild animal protection to ensure the safe departure of the stranded cranes.
