Gansu Bai shuijiang National Nature Reserve is located at the southernmost end of Gansu Province, with a total area of 1837.99 square kilometers, and a forest coverage rate of 87.3%. It is one of the three key protection areas in China focused on giant pandas.
Let's first talk about the living habits of giant pandas. Giant pandas generally live in dense bamboo forests at an altitude of 2600-3500 meters, with an average temperature generally below 20°C. This environment provides giant pandas with sufficient food, and such terrain and water distribution are conducive to giant pandas building nests, hiding, and raising cubs.
Gansu Bai shuijiang National Nature Reserve is located in Longnan, Gansu Province, and the local natural conditions are relatively suitable for giant pandas' living, so Gansu Bai shuijiang National Nature Reserve is the largest one in China, and 10% of the giant pandas in China live here.
Inside Gansu Bai shuijiang National Nature Reserve, in addition to giant pandas, there are many rare and endangered wild plants and animals, such as golden monkeys, leopards, green-tailed pheasants, rhinoceros hornbills, golden cats, and sika deer, etc.
The number of terrestrial vertebrates in the reserve is 265 species, including 180 bird species, 14 amphibian species, 48 mammal species, and 23 reptile species. In short, Gansu Bai shuijiang National Nature Reserve is a species-rich reserve.
