Good Ecology, Home to Many Birds! Large Numbers of Migratory Birds Arrive in Wuyi Shiyan River Wetland
Large numbers of migratory birds have arrived at the Shiyan River wetland
It's precisely the season of lush grass and singing birds, coinciding with the migratory season for waterbirds. Recently, staff at the Shiyan River Wetland Park Management Office captured a large number of migratory birds foraging at Hongya Mountain Reservoir and upstream river channels. Waterbirds leisurely strolled or soared overhead, their calls adding to the vibrant spring scene.

Since March, with the warming weather, species such as the Crowned Crane, White-tailed Eagle, White Egret, Grey Crane, Fork-tailed Flycatcher, and Black-crowned Night Heron have begun their migratory journeys. As an important stopover site on the two bird migration routes—the Central Asian and East Asian-Australia routes, the Shiyan River wetland provides excellent feeding and resting environments for passing migratory waterbirds. According to monitoring and surveys conducted by the Shiyan River Wetland Park Management Office, since March 15th, the waterbird population and numbers in the Shiyan River wetland have increased significantly, with over 10,000 Crowned Cranes, Grey Cranes, Large White Egrets, and Brown-hooded Gull passing through and migrating.
