Qinghai Daily: Krukho Lake and Tosho Lake Witness Peak Migration of Migratory Birds

In early March, the Krukho Lake and Tosho Lake in the Qaidam Basin appeared with nearly a hundred swans and several thousand red-billed ducks overwintering, adding a unique natural beauty to the early spring here. According to the Qinghai Krukho Lake Tosho Lake Provincial Nature Reserve Service Center, the swans have been staying and overwintering here for several years, while the arrival of several thousand red-billed ducks was the first time, which is also a rare large flock of red-billed ducks domestically. It is reported that the Krukho Lake and Tosho Lake wetlands have welcomed the leading troops of migratory birds: gray geese, green-headed ducks, red-billed ducks, eurasian wigeon, and black-necked ducks. It is expected that by mid- to late-March, a peak migration of spring migratory birds will arrive, and a large number of migratory birds will stay and rest here. Red-billed ducks, also known as 'big red-headed ducks', are not common in China, and according to records, red-billed ducks appeared in large flocks of over a thousand in Ulaan Sea in Inner Mongolia in the 1950s and 60s.
