The Ligre Dog, once a noble breed, has fallen into a state of homelessness, a heartbreaking situation.

Talking about the Ligre dog, maybe it's not familiar to many. Flower wants to let everyone see the picture first.

When you see their handsome and adorable appearance, you might recall the appearance of the Ligre dog. Ligre dog, also known as the Greyhound, originated from around 400 BC, in Greece, Turkey and the Mediterranean region, it is a very ancient breed. They are best at running, and are known as 'Champion racers'. Because of this, the Ligre dog has become the protagonist in dog racing competitions.

Their innate racing spirit, combined with the love of multiple owners, allows them to give their all in every racing competition. People only see the Ligre dog standing on the championship podium, but they often ignore the hard work and training they have undergone. Owners who buy Ligre dogs are mostly racing dog enthusiasts. Once they are considered racing dogs, they will not be raised like pets. There is no warm embrace, no owner's care, and no place for them to play. What awaits them is a loose feeding environment, and constant running training every day.

However, they haven't lost their love for their owners. Once they have determined their owners, they will complete the owner's command without fail, even if the training is extremely cruel. Some owners will lock them up in pitch-black rooms and deprive them of food so that when they come out, they will sprint and search for food. No one knows what they feel inside that small black room – their fear and how scared they are. All that is known is their explosive power is limitless. Sometimes, owners will tie Ligre dogs to the back of cars and let them run continuously.

Even when they are tired and in pain during training, it's difficult and uncomfortable, they still strive to keep going. It's not because they are naturally fond of running, but because they love their owners!

It's through this hard work and perseverance that the Ligre dog stands for its owner and wins countless honors, but they are very miserable after being injured or retired. According to the statistics of the Animal Group, on average, 50,000 Ligre dogs are abandoned after races each year.

Especially in Spain, where dog racing is prevalent, abandoned Ligre dogs can be seen everywhere. Some are injured during competitions and the owner doesn't want to treat them; others are too old and considered useless by the owner; and some are disliked by the owner and suffer from abuse before being abandoned. There are many reasons for abandonment, but ultimately, it's because the owners don't love them, but use them as their money-making tools.

According to Anna Clements, a volunteer at the SOS Galgos charity group who specializes in rescuing Ligre dogs, they can only rescue about 350 dogs a year at most, which is only a small part of the abandoned dogs.

This is actually the current phenomenon in China, where the rescue speed is slower than the abandonment speed.

Actually, Flower doesn't understand why the Ligre dog, which strives hard to win for its owner, doesn't get the respect and care it deserves. Flower always thinks that dogs are the most loyal companions of humans, and they never consider their own gains and losses. They strive to be their reliable assistants. They love their owners more than they love themselves, and they should receive the care and affection from their owners.

Flower hopes that whether it's a Ligre dog or any other dog breed, once you decide to adopt a dog, you should use your heart, your love, and your actions to cherish and take care of them. If you don't love them, please don't hurt them. We hope everyone can treat every dog well; they are really good friends of humans.
