Bird Q&A: White Egret
Bird Questions: White Egret
You can often see White Egrets in rivers and lakes. According to the information,
White Egrets are large wading birds with a creamy white plumage in summer. They frequently inhabit coastal areas, rice paddies, lakes, mangrove forests, and other wetlands. They are often seen mixed with other egrets and cormorants. White Egrets are diurnal and walk with their necks contracted into an S-shape. They feed on crustaceans, mollusks, aquatic insects, small fish, frogs, tadpoles, and lizards. They are primarily distributed in temperate regions worldwide.
Once I encountered a White Egret foraging by the riverside, it appeared to be eating a fish. The happy White Egret even raised one wing and stood upright in the wind.
