Seeing These Insects is a Sign of Rain
Ancient people didn't have modern technology to identify weather, they relied on observing celestial phenomena. In folk life, the large-scale appearance of insects often indicated heavy rain. These insects are called 'Da Shui Yi' (Big Water Ants) in Guangxi, and different places have different names for them.
When I was a child, elders said that seeing these insects meant rain was coming, and it was often accurate. These insects look similar to ants, but they are larger, have wings, and can fly.
