Hunchun Eight Links Garrison: Has Become an Eastern White Stork Migration Stopover!
Recently, photographers in Hunchun have photographed flocks of migratory Oriental White Storks playing, soaring, and foraging near the Eight Links Mountains, about six kilometers from the city center. This is a microcosm of Hunchun's ecological environment.
The Oriental White Stork is a large waterfowl with a beautiful figure. It has a long and sturdy beak that is black, with a pale purple or deep red adornment at the base. The base of the beak is thick and gradually thins towards the tip, with a slight upward curve. The skin around the eyes, the eyelids, and the throat are all reddish-purple, with the iris of the eye being pink, with a black outer ring. The body feathers are mainly pure white. The wings are wide and long, with large coverts, primary coverts, primary flight feathers, and secondary flight feathers all being black and having a green or purple sheen. The base of the primary flight feathers is white, and the inner primary flight feathers and secondary flight feathers outside the feather edge and feather tip are silver-gray, gradually turning black inwards. The lower part of the neck has a lance-shaped feather that can be erected during courtship display. Legs and feet are long and crimson red. A national-level protected animal.
