The Biggest Little Bird, Bold Enough to Steal Food from a Crocodile's Mouth!

Some people call the toothpick birds the boldest birds because they dare to snatch food from crocodiles' mouths. This isn't actually the case; it's just that crocodiles need them to help them clean their teeth, so they treat them kindly. Toothpick birds are crocodiles' dental surgeons; without their help, the crocodiles' teeth would rot. Therefore, their relationship is mutually beneficial and symbiotic.
The ferocious crocodiles would often have a sumptuous meal and then close their eyes to sleep by the riverbank or bask in the sun on the beach. During this time, many toothpick birds would fly onto their backs, seemingly chatting with the crocodiles. When the crocodiles were deeply asleep, the toothpick birds would unceremoniously flap their wings, startling them from their sweet dreams. The crocodiles would then obediently open their large mouths, allowing the toothpick birds to fly into their mouths to peck at the leftover food in their teeth. The toothpick birds would quickly peck and swallow the fish, clams, frogs, snails, and meat scraps trapped in the crocodile's teeth.

Why do crocodiles treat small animals fiercely and cruelly, yet treat toothpick birds so kindly and respectfully? This is because toothpick birds are very sensitive birds; when they peck at the leftover food in the crocodile's teeth, they are extremely vigilant about everything around them, serving as the crocodile's duty guard. Once they detected enemies, they would cry out to alert the crocodile, and the crocodile would then retreat to the bottom of the water. It's clear that toothpick birds aren't just the crocodile's toothpicks, but also its loyal friends.
