Moose Population Reappears in Nan Dingting
Moose reside in Nan Dingting
On March 18th, staff from the City Administration of the Nan Dingting Lake Natural Reserve patrol and together with environmental volunteers patrolled the Lusihu area, and discovered 4 moose at Iron Plate Bridge, Zhubaizhaizi Beach. This is the second time this year that the population in this area has been observed.
It is reported that since the 2018 Dongting Lake Ecological Environment Special Remediation and Control was launched under the strong leadership of all levels of Party committees, all levels and departments have carried out the demolition of dwarf fences, the clearance of nets, the removal of willows, and a comprehensive ban on fishing. The ecological environment of Nan Dingting Lake wetland has improved significantly, the wetland ecological system has been further restored, and more rare wild animals and birds have settled and foraged. In recent years, the number of moose residing in Lusihu has been increasing. On January 27th, patrol staff discovered 19 moose approximately 8 kilometers from Zhubaizhaizi Beach in a simple sluice area of Lusihu, indicating that the moose's habitat area in Nan Dingting Lake is constantly expanding.
