Silver-Chested Silvertip Bird
Serilophus lunatus
Vertebrates, Class Aves, Passeriformes, Broad-Billed Bird Family. Serilophus lunatus is a tropical forest bird species, inhabiting tropical and subtropical regions at altitudes of 90-1400 meters, found in forest edges, streamside shrubs and small trees, as well as in rainforests and village-side small trees. It has distribution in Hainan, Yunnan, Guangxi etc.
This bird is omnivorous, fond of eating insects. It is often seen in groups quietly resting, not good at jumping and singing. Experts from the Kunming Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences once saw a cluster of more than ten Silver-Chested Silvertip Birds in the sparse broad-leaved rainforests of Xishuangbanna, living in groups on nearby branches to forage. This bird is relatively sluggish, and experts have seen 4 Silver-Chested Silvertip Birds living in one tree, and after one was shot, the other 3 remained on the tree for a long time without flying.
