Snow Leopards and Herders – Eco-tourism and Human-Wildlife Conflict
Ecotourism based on snow leopards has become the main livelihood for locals and they take on a greater responsibility for snow leopard protection. Ecotourism has changed people's perceptions of snow leopards, with high perceptions of snow leopards protection and the value of snow leopards for locals.
Effective ecotourism must address the combination of attitudes, norms, behavioral controls, and the intentions of locals to shift the value of snow leopards from economic benefits to intrinsic and instrumental values.
