No one starts out as an expert in any field; it’s all gained through one’s own efforts. Even if talent is good at the beginning, it needs to be supplemented with hard work later on. Many turtle enthusiasts have gone from knowing nothing to being very proficient, and it’s just a short period of time, and they’ve put in a lot of effort. But this definitely isn’t just about experience and technique. The mindset is more important. In fact, when you’re raising turtles, you’re actually raising your heart. Mindset becomes, things will go well naturally.

Raising turtles is about patience. Patience seems increasingly rare these days because of fast-paced living, and we want things to happen quickly. Chickens, ducks, and vegetables need to be harvested quickly, and fruit needs to ripen quickly. But raising turtles requires patience, as turtles grow slowly and their injuries take a long time to heal. Sometimes even eating takes a long time. If you want to speed things up, you can only use a greenhouse or compromise the health of the turtles, would that be okay? Patience needs to be honed by keepers, just like we cultivate our children; most children won’t grow up to be excellent if we lack patience.

Raising turtles is about diligence. It's about the emotion you have for the turtles. Why? If you don't have a deep affection for turtles, would you take care of them diligently? Would the care be good if you didn't take care of them carefully? If you weren’t influenced by market prices or other people’s opinions, and focused solely on your own turtles, you might not have had such bad results.
