Loyal Love Like a Calf's Lick! Three Giraffe Calves Born in Shaanxi
On March 19th at 8:30 AM, the Rare Wild Animal Rescue Base of the Shaanxi Academy of Forestry Sciences welcomed its third giraffe calf of the year. The new giraffe calf is a deep brown all over, with a wet coat and a small patch of white on its forehead, very cute. It stood up for about 10 minutes, curious about everything around it, and began to suckle under its mother's belly half an hour later, while the mother tirelessly licked the calf.

The other two giraffe calves were born on February 6th and March 17th of this year, and their physical condition is good. Currently, the base has bred 74 giraffe heads. The keepers are closely monitoring another expectant cow, hoping for good news.

The Qinling Giraffe is one of the 'Four Treasures of Qinling Mountains', and it belongs to the national first-level protected animal. They usually give birth in February and March, one calf per litter. They are alert and have sensitive hearing. They are usually in groups of less than 15 heads, or more than 40 heads, living together in giraffe herds.
