Experience | Three Difficulties in Breeding Water Blisters and Solutions
Introduction: Water blisters and ball-shaped pearls belong to relatively difficult breeds of traditional goldfish. Ningbo player Babylon River had a brilliant discussion about ball-shaped pearls in his WeChat article last year. Today, let's read his experience sharing on breeding water blisters, and welcome all players to post in the Goldfish King Circle.
I am from Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, a native of China, Ningbo is the hometown of goldfish, close to Zhejiang’s Jiaxing and Hangzhou. According to the research of Japanese scholar Masuji Kajii (1934), the earliest record of Chinese goldfish arriving in Japan is in 1502. Goldfish arrived in Britain in the late 17th and mid-18th centuries, and double-tailed goldfish spread throughout Europe in the mid-18th century, arriving in the United States in 1874.
Chinese goldfish are divided into three main categories: namely, ornamental goldfish, egg-type goldfish, and dragon-type goldfish. These three categories are further subdivided into many breeds. According to the introduction in the book, there are currently 109 types of goldfish known, and related materials are available online... The old goldfish breeders all say the five old things of traditional goldfish, namely, Immortal, Water Blister, Pearl, Butterfly Tail, and Head Up. Among them, the water blister is a very unique breed (egg-type goldfish, not one of them), its appearance is very cute, whether it is swimming posture or normal feeding, describing “underwater fairies” or “mermaid” dancing, is not an exaggeration...
The WeChat published an article called 'Six Colors of Water Blisters', and I complained about some of the content in the comments section at the time. By this article, I want to write another article about breeding water blisters. Welcome, fellow fish enthusiasts, to criticize and correct!
Water blisters are very easy to raise, can eat and grow, located between its unique eye shape also highly loved by many enthusiasts, including me! But in fact, breeding water blisters requires many techniques. The old breeders have a saying: ‘Green water, clear pearl, clear water bubble’. This means: Pearls should be raised in green water, and water blisters need to be raised in clear water. In addition, I think there are three major difficulties.
Difficulty one: Water quality
Water blisters are very demanding of water quality. Once the water quality deteriorates slightly, blisters (lymphatic inflammation) are likely to appear, and once blisters appear, it is not easy to recover, at least the breeder needs to pay attention to the water quality. Good water quality makes bubbles easily break and disappear when oxygen is added, but if the bubbles stay on the water surface for a long time and cannot dissipate, it means the water quality is starting to deteriorate, and you must quickly replenish water or change at least half of the water!
The picture of the water blister on one side is not transparent, which is a typical symptom of blisters.
Difficulty two: Cracking
Once broken due to any external force or human intervention, the fish will lose all its ornamental value and economic value. Therefore, breeders can only add a submersible pump to the tank (pool) and cannot use filters (which are prone to crushing bubbles). If you must use a filter, you need to add a protective shield to the suction port of the filter pump (which is very troublesome).
The picture shows a sad broken bubble.
Difficulty three: Submerged
This situation is something that ordinary goldfish breeders cannot think of. When water blisters grow up, some breeds are very large, and because of the weight of the bubbles, they cannot support their balance, they will easily submerge. Long-term submersion will first cause abdominal bleeding, and then cause oxygen deficiency and death... This situation has no effective solution to date.
Therefore, to raise water blisters well, first is to keep it sparse, control the water quality, second is that adult water blisters should not be fed too much, just three-tenths of full, food should be mainly live, soft food with easy digestibility, no high-end food with high protein content, it can be eaten within 10 minutes... In addition, it is important to note that adult water blisters need shallow water breeding, the water depth should not exceed 25 cm, goldfish get sick is 100% caused by human factors, so in managing water quality and feeding, learn and consult with senior breeders for raising experience, improve their own breeding level, do not wait for the fish to get sick to treat, many fish diseases even if treated, even if symptomatic, the final result is still death!
Any goldfish, it is very difficult to raise a healthy, well-shaped, colorful fish. Water blisters are no exception! I sincerely wish all fish enthusiasts can raise their own superb goldfish!
