Amazing! Dezhou Xiazhi Welcomes Over 200 Great White Geese, Shearwaters, and Other Migratory Birds

It is currently the peak migration season for migratory birds. Since February 22nd, the Huanggao Dao National Forest Park in Zhangzi County has successively welcomed Oriental White Storks, Autumn Shearwaters, and over 200 other migratory birds, including national level protected species.
Huanggao Dao ancient mulberry forest group in Zhangzi County is currently the only global important agricultural and cultural heritage site in Shandong Province. The current heritage area has a remnant of more than 6,000 acres of ancient mulberry trees and over 20,000 trees over 100 years old. Huanggao Dao National Forest Park has a forest coverage rate of 61.8%, becoming a transit station and breeding ground for various rare birds.


According to Sun Wei, station director of the Forest Conservation Station of Zhangzi County Forestry Development Center, this is the largest flock of White Stork population observed in Zhangzi County. The observation sites are located at Ping'an Lake and Huijin Lake Reservoir in Zhangzi County's Huanggao Dao National Forest Park, and 10 Autumn Shearwaters were also detected, marking the first time they have been observed in Dezhou. On March 1st alone, more than 100 White Storks flew into Zhangzi County.
