Renmin Net, Jingdong, April 7th, 2017, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Kunming Institute of Zoology and the Jingdong Administration of the Yunnan Wudongshan National Nature Reserve cooperated in Wudongshan to carry out infrared camera grid monitoring of wild animals since 2017.
It is reported that grid monitoring refers to the layout of infrared cameras according to kilometer grids, which is a new monitoring method for wild animals in recent years. Utilizing infrared camera grid monitoring, it can effectively grasp the species, quantity, and distribution of wild animals in the nature reserve, providing basic data for wild animal protection, and can also vividly demonstrate the rich wild animal resources in the nature reserve to the public, mobilizing public awareness and care for wild animals.
In 2019, the Jingdong Administration collected 48312 infrared camera grid monitoring photos and 3273 video segments. Through the analysis and collation of infrared camera grid monitoring photos, the Jingdong Administration captured national grade key protected animals such as the gray-leaf monkey, the red-face monkey, and the monkey; it also captured 'three-party' protected animals such as the leopard cat and the crown deer. In particular, the crown deer, a national grade secondary protected animal, was captured in Wudongshan for the first time. (Cheng Hao, Liu Guqing, Hu Wenqiang)
