White Variant Swans

This is a white little swan, its plumage is far different from the normal little swan. It is quite timid and often stays away from its kind and acts alone. Initially thought to be a white leucistic swan, later through photography, researching information and reading replies from netizens, I learned that it is a white variant swan.

In human eyes, lack of melanin often makes abnormal white animals appear particularly beautiful. Little do people know that white often means loneliness, trouble and pain. Especially albino animals, because of their very conspicuous appearance, poor concealment and poor vision (red eyes), this will affect the success rate of predation and also makes them easily discovered by predators, leading to more difficult survival.
Because of the obvious color difference, white albino variants are often not welcomed by their kind, and may not find partners or mates. Being rejected by their kind and living in loneliness may be the most sad and painful for white variant mutations.
This little swan's plumage is very white, and it is called 'Snow Swan' by bird enthusiasts.
Little swans are mostly released birds, and a few migrate. In Northeast China, North China and Northwest regions, birds bred are mostly summer migrants, and the population in southern regions is mostly resident birds. Little swans are good at swimming and diving, and can also walk and fly, but because of structural problems, they move slowly and clumsily; their flying ability is weaker, and they need to wade a distance on the water surface to take off when taking off from the water surface.

Little swans usually activity during the daytime for feeding. They hunt food through diving, primarily small fish, soft aquatic animals and amphibians and small aquatic vertebrates.

However, during this observation and photography of 'Snow Swan', I first noticed that little swans not only hunt underwater, but also spend a lot of time hunting on the surface.
