Successful Natural Breeding of Captive Male Giant Panda 'Qiqi'
On March 17th, the world's only captive brown male giant panda 'Qiqi' and female giant panda 'An An' successfully completed their first natural mating.
Giant panda 'Qiqi' is a purebred Qinling giant panda, possessing extremely high genetic value. The successful natural breeding of 'Qiqi' and An An marks a breakthrough in the cultivation of giant panda species in Shaanxi Province. The artificial breeding system of Qinling giant pandas is becoming increasingly mature. Reporters from the Qinling Giant Panda Breeding Research Center of the Shaanxi Forestry Academy learned that in 2020, the center participated in the breeding of 10 female giant pandas and 5 male giant pandas, and so far, the center has successfully completed the breeding of 2 female giant pandas.
