Maobi Town, Lianjiang: Thousands of Acres of Rapeseed Flowers Bloom, Transforming the Land into Gold

In early March, with the spring warmth and blossoming flowers, recently, nearly a thousand acres of rapeseed flowers in Lianjiang's Maobi Town have been blooming in abundance, presenting a charming scene of spring vibrancy.
On the morning of March 10th, a reporter visited Village Front Village, Maobi Town, and looked out – 400 acres of farmland south of the village were like a golden ocean; a gentle breeze stirred, creating rolling waves of gold, with a fragrant aroma.
Upon closer inspection, rows of rapeseed flowers, about 1 meter high, grew densely in the fields, one after another, clump after clump, beautiful and captivating, with countless bees dancing in the golden blossoms, exuding a strong spring atmosphere.
Since 2018, Village Front Village has utilized winter fallow fields to plant rapeseed flowers, with the village committee coordinating seed planting and management, and the villagers harvesting themselves. This year, the area has expanded to over 400 acres. Village Front Village Party Branch Secretary Qu Lidian said that using winter fallow fields to plant rapeseed flowers not only beautified the village but also increased land utilization rates and added a good harvest. For example, in 2019, the village planted over 300 acres of rapeseed fields, with an average income of 1000 yuan per acre. Considering the current growth of the rapeseed flowers, this year’s income is expected to exceed last year’s.
Last year, the county and township governments allocated 500,000 yuan specifically to build three scenic viewing platforms in Village Front Village’s rapeseed fields and paved a 300-meter wooden boardwalk. Town Culture Station Director Chen Chencai introduced that to enrich tourist viewing experiences while appreciating the beautiful rapeseed flowers, it was also intended to understand the history and culture of Maobi, so 128 excellent photographic works were arranged along the wooden boardwalk, receiving widespread praise from the masses.
Besides Village Front Village, Maobi Town has guided residents in villages such as Chunsan, Guifeng and Baita to plant rapeseed flowers in winter fallow fields, with a total area of nearly a thousand acres. Currently, all these rapeseed flowers are in full bloom.
