Detailed Planning Initiated for Overall Urban Revitalization of Jin and Zhelin Tourist Towns in Lushan West Sea Scenic Area
On March 9, 2020, Zhong (China Communications Construction Corporation No. 2 Design Institute) acted as the leading bidder, jointly with Shanghai Lianchuang Design Group, winning the detailed planning project for the overall urban revitalization of Jin and Zhelin Tourist Towns in West Sea Scenic Area of Lushan, Jiangxi Province, with the first-place ranking!
West Sea Scenic Area, located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, spans Wuníng and Yongxi counties. It is a large-scale scenic area integrating the largest earth dam reservoir in Asia, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, a national Buddhist exemplar forest, a national water conservancy scenic area, and a national forest park, established in 2005 by approval of the State Council. Jin Township and Zhelin Town are the two major important tourist towns within the scenic area. Specifically, Zhelin Town covers an area of 142 square kilometers, while Jin Township covers an area of 84 square kilometers.

The bidding plan was designed to guide the subsequent compilation of the detailed planning for the overall urban revitalization of Jin and Zhelin Tourist Towns in West Sea Scenic Area. The plan should adhere to the principles of ‘livable, tourist-friendly, exquisite, and characteristic’, conducting a comprehensive survey and organization of the natural ecological environment, historical human environment, and important spatial environment characteristics of the tourist towns, extracting and innovating representative stylistic elements of the local area, and arranging the spatial environment that carries these stylistic characteristics, aiming to improve the urban environment, enhance urban quality, and shape small towns with unique charm, achieving the goal of building Jin and Zhelin as exemplary characteristic towns across China, and establishing ‘Beautiful China, Ecological Jiangxi’ West Sea model.
