One of the Top 10 Coastlines in the World: The Red Wall of Calpe, Spain
Come to Spain, many people will come to Calpe, most are coming for the red wall, if you have played Monument Valley, you must be familiar with it. The red wall is the prototype of Monument Valley.

In the southeast of Spain, in the Alicante province of Alicante, there is a 200-kilometer-long ‘white coast’, pure white sand beaches, clear blue skies, natural colors and imaginative architecture. The area is only 24 square kilometers, a cute town called Calpe. Since the Franco era, it has been the most popular dazzling pearl on this white coast.

The first time I came to Spain, I came to see the red wall, we drove from Barcelona to Calpe, and it took a lot of effort to finally see the beautiful red wall. The white coast is located on the eastern coast of Spain, which can be roughly divided into Valencia to the south of Alicante. The temperature here is suitable, the sunshine is abundant, and even in winter, it is still warm as spring.

Calpe is probably the most charming place on the white coast, and the peninsula where it is located is one of the most beautiful peninsulas in eastern Spain. The two sides of the peninsula gather Denia, Xativa, Altea, and other very distinctive small towns.

And the ‘old town’ of Calpe town is full of flavor, it is not a strict sense of ancient architecture, but it has preserved the rustic town atmosphere. Walking along the town built along the mountain, the town is winding and winding, and there are often unexpected ‘dark corners and bright corners’, the steps are painted in different colors by the locals with a sense of humor, creating a magical and romantic feeling; almost every house has flowers and plants, or in a chaotic or orderly way, sprouts from the balcony and steps, walking in the center will unconsciously feel happy.

The white coast of Spain is known as one of the top ten coastlines in the world, and Calpe’s giant rock is like the business card of the white coast. From the town, you can easily find the symbol of Calpe – ‘Calpe Giant Rock’. This giant rock that rises 332 meters from the sea level is like a guardian, guarding the quiet Mediterranean Sea. Climbing to the mountain next to the town, no matter from which angle, the combination of giant rock, town and blue sky is incredibly harmonious, just like a masterpiece by the greatest painter.

When visiting Calpe town, you must go to check in the red wall, if you have played Monument Valley, you must be familiar with this scene. This is the Monument Valley inspiration source for Aya’s check-in, located in the town of Calpe, Alicante, Spain, known as La Muralla Roja, which translates to ‘The Red Wall’ in Chinese. It was designed by Spanish architectural genius Ricardo bofill in 1968 and completed in 1973. It was inspired by Arab and Mediterranean architecture. Spain is a place where architectural geniuses come out of nowhere. Many places in Spain have very distinctive architecture, which is worth visiting.

Inside the red wall, there are a total of 50 apartments, only a few are rented out as B&Bs. The exterior wall is mostly red, with pink and blue as the main colors, complex and winding stairs and iconic geometric buildings, vibrant pink walls and beautiful lighting, just like a real Monument Valley. If you have played Monument Valley, you must be familiar with this scene. It's a great place for little fairies to check in and take pictures. The red wall is a residential area, so you can only stay inside to take pictures.
Small Tips:
1. The town is not very big, if you come to Calpe red wall, you can stay for one night, if you want to explore the town, it's better to stay for three or two nights.
2. Transportation: Calpe town has no trains or airports, you can first take a train or plane to Alicante, then take a bus to Calpe town, which takes about 1.5 hours.
3. Opening hours: Open all day, the Calpe red wall has limited opening hours, only residents can enter.
4. How to book: Calpe town is a seaside town next to the Mediterranean Sea, the whole town is beautiful, besides the red wall, you can also go to the beach to play. The red wall is actually a residential area, you can only stay inside to go in and take pictures. The B&Bs inside are only available online, and there are only 5-6, so there are not many tourists here. However, you must reserve at least one or two months in advance, otherwise there will be no room, and some will require staying for more than 3 nights. If you don't book accommodation, I heard that the ticket price is 100 euros per person, which is very expensive.
