New Xiang, Henan Guo Liang Village: Scenery ‘Overcharging,’ Locals Charge Randomly, Tourists Still Increase but Don’t Decrease!
Wang Anshi's 'Climbing Mount Jigading' describes: ‘Standing on a thousand-foot cliff, north of Mount Taishan.’ The Taishan Mountain we see today is the same. Spanning Beijing, Hebei and Shanxi, extending south to Xinxiang, Henan, ‘Guo Liang Village.’
Guo Liang Village is located on a cliff face with a thousand-foot height, known as ‘Pearl of Taishan’. Currently, it is also the first sub-district of Wanshan Mountain, a 4A scenic area.
This place was once controversially debated due to ‘True and False Guo Liang Village’ and was also criticized for the resort’s ‘crazy overcharging’. Let's take a look at what happened and how it is now.
‘True and False Guo Liang Village’In the deep mountains of Taishan, Hebei Province, outside the city of Hui County, Fengxian, there is a historic village known as ‘Guo Liang Village’, famous for ‘cliff road and gorge’. We all know ‘Raise Your Hand’, filmed by Pan Changjiang, most of the scenes were filmed in Guo Liang Village.
Many tourists come here for film and television shooting locations.
Therefore, local black tour guides took advantage of this to say there was another entrance to the village that could see 80% of the film scenes, ‘Complete Guo Liang Village’ appeared, resulting in a huge difference in scenery.
After several hours, there was no standardized scenic area. The so-called ‘Guo Liang Village’ was actually just a relatively well-preserved village, which caused the ‘True and False Guo Liang Village’ joke.
It's hard to imagine that in a 4A scenic area, traffic would be so chaotic.
Entering Wanshan Mountain Scenic Area from Guo Liang Village, staff members said the road was dangerous and it was best for tourists to park their cars at the scenic area parking lot and walk to admire the scenic area.
But as soon as you get off the car, people immediately come over and say: ‘I can help you self-drive, and there will be a guide.’
It’s obvious that it’s a black car!
More infuriatingly, the scenic area prohibits private cars from entering, but local vehicles are excluded. It’s easy to see that the chaos of black cars is not without reason.
According to tourists’ feedback: paying 10 yuan to take a photo with the old village head, paying to use the toilet in the village… such malicious commercialization made tourists feel disgusted.
Repeated tourist complaints led to the exposure of ‘overcharging’ chaos in recent years, reporters went for investigation, it’s exactly the same as what many tourists described.
Wanshan Mountain’s must-pass ‘Wall Hanging Corridor’ is a beautiful landscape.
After talking about the chaos, we review Guo Liang Village, which is still worth the popularity over the years. It is a must-pass place in Wanshan Mountain Scenic Area - ‘Wall Hanging Corridor’, the photographer’s photos of beautiful scenery in nature.
Now, this world-renowned ‘Wall Hanging Road’ has become a landmark of Guo Liang Village, a natural wonder. Guo Liang Village is also the most memorable place for many tourists’ ‘hiking trip’. When you reach a high place, the feeling is amazing.
In fact, after ‘True and False Guo Liang Village’, the ‘Eight Li Gou Scenic Area’ in Huixian, Henan, was exposed to ‘black’ tour guides, dirty and messy sanitation, poor environment, overcharging and other problems.
This inevitably prompts reflection: how can a small village accommodate a large number of tourists? Like Beijing’s ‘Cuizuidi Village’, these old villages represent unique humanistic charm and are worth visiting.
And with the development of tourism and homestays, local villagers have gradually improved their lives, but also brought negative effects. Small villages, no more days of tranquility; tourists come here, the commercial atmosphere is too heavy.
Sometimes I wonder, if I were a local villager, would I welcome tourists or refuse them?
Regarding Guo Liang Village, I might not want to go, just look at the photographer’s photos, travel online at home, which is very good.
Have you ever been to other historic villages and scenic areas? What do you think of Guo Liang Village? Welcome to leave a comment.@
