Chengdu Surrounding Hidden Gem Self-Driving Routes: Experience Four Seasons in a Day, Tasting Chengdu’s Best Grilled Pork
Welcome to the Tail Elephant and Cat Travel Adventure Agency, let's go together to discover those little-known travel stories and different local flavors.

As a native of Chengdu, with increasing work pressure, what makes us happiest is not anymore the (dumplings and hotpot), but when the weather doesn't go with our wishes, we can step on the gas and go to all directions. The scenery in the Sichuan Western region is always unique, overlooking any scenic spot in the world, but these are the places tourists usually go to.

The Chengdu army goes south to Xichang during holidays, which is reflected in the crowded license plates on the highways. The scenery along the way begins after passing Ya'an, the first stop: Menghu City and Jiele Lake, both geographically belong to Ya'an, located near Liziping. Before, it was only possible to go here by (national highway), and the newly built high-speed road is now just beginning to appear.
These two places have gone viral due to the photos that have recently become popular on the internet. After all, as long as the photos are beautiful, they can always attract a large number of people to visit.
The thousand-year-old dead tree in the Menghu City grassland is the main focus of the scenic spot. It is said to have helped Menghu a thousand years ago, and also protects the villagers of Menghu City. Of course, it can also help everyone take photos and gain points on their (WeChat Moments). After all, who would have thought that there would be such a place on the plateau where you could see cows and sheep blowing in the wind.

Besides taking pictures in Menghu City and Jiele Lake, the famous Sichuan-style charcoal-grilled pork is a must-try. A few holes are dug into a large iron plate, charcoal is placed underneath, and when the temperature is right, a plate of pork pre-mixed with seasonings is placed on the iron plate. Suddenly, a one-meter-high flame erupts, and the boss quickly flips the pork rolling on the plate while sarcastically complaining about Chengdu's barbecue: 'Barbecue, you must first burn the smell before it tastes good.'

The meat that has been touched by the flames removes excess fat, and the grease is carried away by the heat, leaving it crisp and refreshing. The remaining fat just dissolves the awkward taste of the lean meat. This barbecue is a taste that everyone who has tried it will call 'amazing.'
The next day you must go to Xichang, the place that Chengdu people love the most, which is warm in winter and cool in summer. Xichang, to be precise, has the Satellite Launch Center, or, more simply, countless delicious food and beautiful scenery. From here, you can also start the Shangri-La Ring Line. For most Chengdu people, Xichang is a place to escape the summer heat, enjoy fruits, barbecue, and the Fire Festival.
Old diners know that you absolutely can't refuse Sichuan-style pork and Liangshan potatoes. I won't talk about how great they are, because food is something you have to experience yourself to truly appreciate it.
