Wandering Through the Ancient City of Luosang, Experiencing the Charm of the Olympic Games

Located in the southwest of Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva, Lausanne is the second largest city in Switzerland. Lausanne is not only an Olympic capital modern, but also a famous resort city on the shores of Lake Geneva, and a city of international culture. Lausanne was a haven for artists during the war years: Voltaire, Byron, Rousseau, Hugo, Dickens and Hemingway all lived and worked in this peaceful and quiet old city.

The headquarters of the International Olympic Committee is located on the shores of Lake Geneva. With the development of Olympic sports, the headquarters of the IOC has moved four times in Lausanne, and the new headquarters is adjacent to and connected by a corridor to the previous headquarters in Videville. Entering the new headquarters, you can see various artworks donated by Olympic Committees from all countries. In the backyard of the headquarters, you can also see the sculpture 'Towards the World' donated by the Chinese Olympic Committee.

Olympic Museum

The Olympic Museum is adjacent to the headquarters of the IOC, located on a small hill on the shores of Lake Geneva, surrounded by the Olympic Park. It is a museum with a view. Standing in the courtyard or terrace of the restaurant of the museum, you can overlook the mountains and lakes of Lake Geneva.

The Olympic Museum, which was completed and opened to the public in 1993, is the largest record of the Olympic development history museum in the world. It is a museum that collects and exhibits more than 10,000 items from the first Athens Olympic Games to the present. The museum's entire building is pure white, with a simple and brisk architectural style. There are two rows of Corinthian columns from the Greek island of Samos in front of it. This pure white symbolizes the peace and justice of sports.

Entering the museum is like wandering through a hundred-year Olympic historical painting, the museum collects and exhibits treasures from the first Olympic Games in Athens to today. There are ancient Olympic Games hosting cities, the model of Olympia Mountain, the commemorative gold coins of the first modern Olympic Games, the biography and writings of Gobet, and other precious historical materials and Olympic torch used in different eras. In the museum, you can also see many Chinese elements: the auspicious cloud torch, mascots, and image materials of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the models and design drawings of the Bird's Nest and Water Cube.

Old Town

After leaving the Olympic Museum, take the M2 subway from Lausanne Central Station to Lake Lausanne. After a few stops, you arrive at the Ushi Dock. Ushi Dock is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Lausanne for local residents and tourists, and it is also the most important water transport hub on the shores of Lake Geneva.

On sunny days, strolling in Ushi, the beautiful Lake Geneva is full of seagulls and swans, the yachts and sailboats are dotted in the water. You can rest in an outdoor cafe to enjoy the scenery of mountains and lakes; or stop by the lakeside to watch the performances of street artists; or go sailing on the lake... Ushi Dock will make you intoxicated and forget to return.
