Pamir Plateau Apricot Blossom Itinerary Route Map
Someone asked about the route to see apricot blossoms in Pamir, so I'm sharing a route map for reference if you're planning to go.
This route map is a loop route, avoiding backtracking. Please choose the route based on your specific situation.
Regarding road conditions:
The distance to the apricot blossoms in Pamir isn't very long; the blossoms are mainly concentrated in villages along the road from Kurozerluk to Taltang. If you're staying in Tashkurgan, a one-way trip of one day is sufficient.
The roads from Tashkurgan to Datong Township have all been paved, which is much better than before, but the roads are a bit narrow, so please drive carefully. Roads from Datong to Sarchi or to Yingjisha are still difficult to travel on, requiring off-road vehicles. It's not recommended to cycle alone, and it's best to travel with 2 or more vehicles, as some sections have no mobile signal.
Currently, the road from Bashi Lake to Tashkurgan is under construction, so please allow for extra time in your schedule.
Regarding accommodation:
Accommodation is available along the route; you can stay at local villagers' homes. Once you arrive, you'll know which home to stay in. You don't need to book in advance; it's a typical guesthouse system. If you're concerned, we recommend bringing sleeping bags.
Regarding meals:
There are no restaurants along the route; Kurozerluk has a small restaurant. When staying at local villagers' homes, you can have meals there. It's best to bring your own food, water, and fruit.
Regarding border permits:
A border permit is required for travel to Tashkurgan. If you're going to Datong Township, you'll also need to write it on your border permit. Checking also occurs on the Tashqurgan Ancient Road route to the Sarchi County direction. When applying for the border permit, please mention all the places you plan to visit. Write everything that can be written on it. You can obtain the border permit from the Kashgar Tourist Service Center.
