Look! A Group of ‘Special Guests’ Arrived at Guiyang Guishan Lake Park

Recently, famous photographer Jia Qingxiang from Guiyang was found a group of 'special guests' in Guishan Lake Park.

According to Jia Qingxiang, recently, he walked in Guishan Lake Park and accidentally discovered a group of slightly larger birds by the lake, resembling pigeons and Japanese cranes in shape, with about ten individuals. However, their beaks and feet were significantly longer than those of pigeons and Japanese cranes. They would fly and rest by the shore, like cheerful little elves.

Jia Qingxiang consulted with tourists and anglers who often walked by the lake, and learned that these were rare migratory birds in winter, called Grey-headed Gulls. They stopped at Guishan Lake for 'a short rest' during their migration in winter, replenishing nutrients and strengthening their physical fitness.

Grey-headed Gulls are unfamiliar to the people of Guiyang. They usually stay at Guishan Lake for no more than 20 days in winter, and tourists rarely see them.
