Real-Shot Sandhill Cranes During Migration: 'Dancers' of the Blue Sky

On March 14, 2020, in Monte Vista, Colorado, sandhill cranes were foraging and resting in the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge. More than 20,000 sandhill cranes migrate annually from the San Luis Valley of Colorado, typically staying in newly harvested fields for several weeks from late February to early April, heading north to summer fields in Wyoming and Montana.
