What is the Longest Living Animal in the World Today? How Long Can Snakes Grow?
For humans, we use 'high' and 'low' to describe our height, not length. But when it comes to the longest land animals, many people immediately think of snakes.

According to the Guinness World Record, the current longest reticulated python is called 'Medusa.' This python is raised in Kansas City, USA, and its length is 7.67 meters. It's believed that this is the longest anyone has ever seen. However, some people claim to have found a python that was more than double its length, a reticulated python named 'Kamala' in Indonesia, reportedly 14.5 meters long, but measurements showed its length was less than 7 meters.

Many researchers believe that most descriptions of python length and weight are exaggerated. Because reticulated pythons are often skinned after being caught, researchers have studied approximately 8000 reticulated pythons in the market over the past two years, and only two exceeded 7 meters, and that's only by a little. Market traders also say that this snake will not grow any longer.
Researchers believe that 8 meters is the most likely length of this species. Of course, there may be one or two longer individuals. They speculate that in the mid-1900s, pythons were discovered on Sulawesi Island with lengths of 10 meters, which is likely true, but they cannot determine the accuracy of historical measurements.

In the snake family, the amethyst python, the African rock python, and possibly the most famous boa constrictor all exceed reticulated pythons. Boa constrictors are native to tropical rainforests in South America. When early explorers first stepped onto this land, legends of giant pythons spread. Due to its remote habitat and secretive nature, it has also become an ideal character in adventure novels. However, due to its secrecy, it's difficult to obtain specimens for accurate measurements.
